According to latest data released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance (MoF), the country’s stainless steel exports increased during the month of March this year. Japan’s total stainless steel exports during the month amounted to 104,957 tons, up 11.6% from the previous month.
The largest export destination of Japanese stainless steel was China. The exports to China totaled 21,729 tons. The exports from Japan to China jumped 13.2% when compared with the exports during February. In second place was Korea with total imports of 21,470 tons. The stainless steel exports to Korea jumped higher by 9.6% month-on-month.
The average export price of stainless steel from the country during March was $3,760 per ton, rising almost 12.3% when compared to the previous month. The exports of stainless steel generated total revenue of $394.603 million during the month.
Meanwhile, the country’s total exports of stainless steel scrap totaled 8,296 tons during December 2013. The exports during December fell by 32% from a month ago.
MoF data also indicated that Japanese stainless steel scrap exports declined 22.7% over the previous month to touch 5,671 tons.
